Called to Serve

After patiently waiting...Haley's call came on Friday, November 2nd.

She greeted the mail man at the mail box, with his delivery in hand.
She screamed and jumped up and down as she recognized the big white envelope.
The mail man continued down the street shaking his head and laughing!

Clark had a football game at 7 PM, so we sent out word that Haley would be
opening her call at 10:30 PM at our house after the game.

We scrambled to get donuts, set out the guessing map and to gather chairs,
all before Mountain View's first big playoff game.
(Sadly, we lost to Desert Mountain)

Just minutes after receiving her special delivery!

Haley was too excited to remember to look at the postage,
so Cassidy made sure to cover it up with white duct tape.
(supposedly, if the postage is $1.90, it means a foreign call, which held true for Haley)

Friends and family took turns guessing where Haley would serve!

The house was PACKED with awesome friends, family, church leaders and co-workers

Thanks to Bennett for video-taping, Kristin for the pictures,
and Cassidy for holding all the cell phones connecting out of town friends and family.

The pictures tell the rest of the story...!!!!!!!!

Bishop and Sister Wright of the YSA 3rd Ward

It was an unexpected blessing that BFF Makaylee just happened to be flying home
this weekend from BYU and arrived minutes before Haley was to open her call!

3 people guessed she would serve in Peru!

Life is good and we are so grateful for Haley's choice to serve a mission!
We know that she will be blessed as she serves and loves the people of Peru!

October Happenings

Who would have thought that watching General Conference
on October 6th could change our lives so quickly and dramatically?

The announcement that young women could serve missions at the age of 19
was a total game changer for Haley!

Without any hesitation she KNEW that was what she needed to do!

During the following week she met with her Bishop
and took care of the necessary medical and dental appointments.
President Smith and Haley after her papers were submitted on October 17th.
The wait begins!

The U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Station Phoenix honored Clark
as the U.S. Marine Corps Elite Warrior of the Week
as the best high school football player in Arizona.

"On September 28, 2012, Brown scored three touchdowns
in helping Mountain View to a 43-31 win over the undefeated Pinnacle.
Brown returned two punts for touchdowns of 78 and 51 yards
and grabbed a 45 yard scoring catch in the victory."
(Thanks to all those who voted!)

Brett celebrated his 26th birthday!

We were also excited when Brett announced that he had been accepted into
the Graduate Program at ASU in Agri-Business which will begin in January.

We enjoyed the traditional Halloween Dinner at Grandpa and Grandma Clark's home.
Complete with decorative lights, a fire in the outside fireplace, cute decorations
and yummy food (Goulosh, pumpkin bread bowls, donuts and hot chocolate).
It is no wonder that the grand kids don't want to let this tradition end!

Haley's Orthodontic office dressed up as Oompa Loompas and the Doctor as Willy Wonka

Brett, Tia and Landon were a "Fiesta"
(They won the "funniest costumes" at their friend's Halloween Party!)

and Landon stole the show as a Pinata!
(A big shout out to Tia for her vision and the darling costume she made for Landon!)

Bring on November!

October Break

Bennett finished up his swim season

Clark was cheered on at his football game by Jacob, Isaac and Austin

Clark rolled his ankle at practice on the uneven practice field....UGH!

which resulted in getting an x-ray.
Thankfully, nothing was broken, but he will miss the next  few football games.

Sat in the press box with the coaches during the game
and listened to the play calling

tried to avoid me after the game...he hates having his picture taken!
Good luck with that when you are on crutches!

Landon attended his first football game and was decked out in his
 Baby Toro shirt!

Bennett had a garage sale and sold a bunch of JUNK,
but made some great money!

we loved on this little guy as much as possible!

But the biggest event of the week was....
HALEY'S MISSION PAPERS
ARE SUBMITTED IN RECORD TIME!

Stay tuned...
