Holiday Dinners

I have mostly fond memories of choir in Junior High and High School.

I shudder when I reflect upon the solos that I had to sing for my grade...
("You Light Up My Life" and "Superstar" by the Carpenters haunt my memory!)
the frumpy outfits that we were required to wear,
and the insecurities I felt having to learn new choreography.
BUT...

I loved learning new songs, singing Christmas carols,
performing in the Nutcracker at ASU 's Gammage Auditorium,
and getting goosebumps as we sang the National Anthem
or Battle Hymn of the Republic at graduation.

My girls played in the orchestra, so there was no room
in their academic schedule for another music class.
So, without any competition from a violin or trumpet,
I convinced my boys that the best way to complete their Fine Arts credit
 was to participate in choir.

I am in heaven...
the tuxes, the concerts, and this year, for the first time the Holiday Dinners!

IT WAS SPECTACULAR!

I got goosebumps all over again,
but this time it was being surrounded by hundreds of high school students singing
"STILL, STILL, STILL" and Bennett was one of those cute singers!

We loved sharing a table with Kent and Heather, Roc and Sydney and Grandpa and Grandma

Thanks, Bennett for humoring your Mother
and "Lighting Up My Life"!
You are a "Superstar" in my little choir bubble!

Special Blessings

Clark received his Patriarchal Blessing on July 1st.
It was a special day, one that we will all remember.
There was a wonderful spirit present during this sacred occasion.

We are SO BLESSED that we have a Grandfather that is an ordained Patriarch,
and who is worthy and willing to give his grandchildren their blessings.

We love that Grandma is also a part of this special experience.
She has the job of typing up each of the blessings that Grandpa gives.

We sure love this guy and look forward to watching his life unfold!

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all that I have called "FATHER"...Couldn't ask for a better father for my children.
He is a wonderful example of all the things I try to teach my children daily...

Curt loves his work and no matter what his job, he has a passion for it.

This guy knows how to play hard.
Ultra competitive doesn't even come close to describing him in a game or competition.

Curt loves people. It doesn't matter the social status, religion, culture, or the language, he just wants to get to know them. He seriously makes friends EVERYWHERE he goes.

I don't think there is a piano recital, game, swim meet, parent teacher conference, awards assembly or church talk that Curt has missed his children participate in. He loves his kids!

He honors his priesthood through his leadership and love to us and to those he serves in whatever position he is called.

Each year, one of his gifts is a photo tie with a picture of his kids.
He, as well as the kids, are always surprised to see which picture he will proudly display!

The tie wearing tradition has come a long way.
This was what he sported in 2000, just 9 years ago!

My dad...
What do you say to the man who loved you, raised you, taught you and still to this day continues to do all those things through his example.
My father-in-law...
The sweetest, most humble and gentle man you would ever want to meet.
We see so much of our "Grandpa Chuck" in Curt. It brings us comfort and many a laugh as we realize "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree". We miss you, Grandpa!
To all these men...I LOVE YOU!
Happy Father's Day!

Happy Anniversary!

On November 27, 1963, my parents were married in the Salt Lake Temple.

How grateful we are for their love for each other, for their children and grandchildren and their examples of untiring service and dedication to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We love you Mom and Dad!

Thanks for sharing your special day with us!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

This is one of our favorite pictures of Grandma! It was taken just a few weeks after she and Grandpa arrived in Trinidad to serve a two year mission. I remember when the kids first saw it and the excitement and laughter that ensued. We have since framed it and it sits on display in our family room to remind us how much we LOVE Grandma!

Why do we love Grandma? Let us count the ways:

We love her example of service to others

We love how she remembers the special times in our lives
(comforters on 8th birthdays, pearl necklaces for the girls when they turn 16, birthday cards, special Christmas letters, notes and books on mothers and fathers day, etc.)

We love going to her house for Sunday dinners with the favorite mashed potatoes and gravy

We love her warm welcomes every time we come to visit

We love her frequent phone calls to check up on us

We love her entries in the Meldrum Memo. They are always so descriptive and deep!

We love that there is always chocolate hiding somewhere in her cupboards!
(I found some just the other day, yummy!)

We love how she continually teaches us with her spiritual insights and thoughts

And the list goes on and on and on...

We are so blessed to live near you and to have your influence in each of our lives. We are proud and honored to be your children and grandchildren!

We love you! Happy, Happy Birthday!
